Blues Soloing: Story and Structure
My friend Coleman Head, one of the best guitar players you never heard of, recorded this solo on my song Fool's Paradise in the 1990's. Using the classic blues elements and approach, he lays out a story, the density of notes is structured and has a nice climax that leads to the piano solo. This is taste, but not restrained, and it serves the song well. Below the video, I've added a player with the full song, including my own solo which I'll analyse next.
